Pumps are second only to electric motors as the most widely-used rotating machines in many aspects of modern life. It is therefore not surprising that Kelly & Lewis, a leader in centrifugal pump manufacture in Australia, attracted the interest of overseas organisations who wished to have a presence in Australia. Ownership of Kelly & Lewis since its establishment in 1899 moved through Australian, British and American companies until 2004, when the Flowserve Corporation of the USA finally acquired the remnants of the company.
