Tractors of the 20th Century
Take a panoramic tour of 10 decades of tractors, beginning with the primitive, steam-operated, steel-wheeled "traction engines" of the early 1900s and ending with engineering masterpieces featuring turbocharged engines producing 400+ horsepower, automatic transmissions with up to 32 speeds, and climate-controlled cabs with onboard computers.
Bob Pripps' first experience with tractors came at just 9 years old working with his father, a forest ranger, discing a fire lane with an Allis-Chalmers crawler. After 36 years in the aviation industry, Pripps returned to his first love and began writing about tractors. He has authored 26 books on tractors, most of them with photographer Andrew Morland.
Andrew Morland is a free-lance photographer and author from Somerset, England, whose work has appeared in more than 50 books on tractors, cars, trucks and motorcycles.
