In 1909 the automobile had not yet become a necessity; many people still relied on the tried-and-true transportation methods of generations past, e.g. the horse and buggy. One of the major supplies of such vehicles was the Elkhart Manufacturing Company of Indiana - an enterprising midwestern maker of horse-drawn carriages and wagons. The present volume reproduces a rare, profusely illustrated catalogue the company used to market its wares directly to prospective customers.
Included here are more than 350 finely detailed line illustrations of over 140 different vehicles - cabriolets, flat-bottom and jump-seat surreys, phaetons and spiders, Stanhopes, storm buggies, Concords, open driving wagons, spring wagons, delivery wagons, milk wagons, wagonettes, pony traps, and much more. For each vehicle, an extensive caption describes the body, gears, wheels, trimmings, top, painting, and cost
