This is a good quality reprint of an early text book on the use of sheetmetal. It covers all aspects of sheetmetal work including marking out of a job, the tools that are needed, as well as giving examples of complete projects.
Tools that are described include 11 different type of hammers, mallets, 14 types of stakes, 3 types of "horse-heads", studs and punches, rivet set, shears and snips, pliers, squares, burring machines, circle cutter, bending roller, cone rollers, folding machines, grooving machine, hand swage, soldering bits, pening machine, and more.
The book starts with some simple examples, including: making tool box, a plain cross flower tray, maltese cross, knife tray, letter box, picnic outfit with boiler and teapot (including strainer and lid).
Another chapter describes the hollowing of plate. That is the making of curved and domed objects, next is simple round articles, such as a flour bin, colander, strainer, watering can, a horse's nose tin, funnels and tea urn.
Later chapters also include: saucepan making, kettles, kerosene stove with a wick burner, set of workshop oilcans, fancy paste-cutters and lastly lamps and lanterns.
This is a good introductory book into the art of folding and working sheet metal.
