The book starts with a rundown of the different types of rack technology that exists, followed by chapters on the famous Mt. Lyell railway in Tasmania, and the not quite as famous Mt. Morgan rack railway in Queensland. The later chapters covers some more modern rack railways, including the ski-field rack railway, and some colliery and sewage tunnel construction lines.
