This is a welcome sight to see, further to the few books we have seen in the last couple of years covering Australian agricultural machinery manufacturers we now have a comprehensive reference on Bagshaw engines.
The books starts off with a brief history of J.S. Bagshaw and J.H. Horwood, and the firms of J.S. Bagshaw & Sons Ltd. and J.H. Horwood & Co. Followed by details of the formation of Horwood Bagshaw Ltd., and covering the various takeovers that they were involved with up until the present.
The engines produced by Bagshaw and Horwood Bagshaw are covered very well, with plenty of detail, including illustrations from the manufacturer and photos of surviving examples. Operating instructions and parts lists are included for some of the engines, along with a serial number list.
The book also has an interesting section on the various name plates, transfers and logos that were used by the company over the years.
There are also details of the grain grinders, winnowers, horseworks, chaffcutters and many of the other implements and machinery manufactured by Horwood Bagshaw.
This book is definatly a 'must' for the Australian engine enthusiast or the Bagshaw engine owner.
